The thousanders peaks of malá úpa

The Thousanders Peaks of Malá Úpa

Do you prefer peace and quiet, beautiful views, and trips without crowds of people? Sněžka may be the highest mountain, and it is beautiful, but... there are so many people. Discover the beauty of the Krkonoše National Park and the beauty of Sněžka, the highest mountain, from a different angle. Climb the The thousanders peaks of Malá Úpa.

We'll skip Sněžka which is also one of the The thousanders peaks of Malá Úpa, and we invite you to hike on other mountains:

Svorová hora

One of the interesting things about this mountain is that if you hike to the Polish side, you can find Czech garnets.

Tabule

You can climb up from Kowary along the so-called Tobacco Trail, which was used by smugglers in the first half of the 19th century.

Čelo

From Tabule, follow the blue trail and after 1.5 km you will reach your destination. This allows you to conquer two peaks at once in a single hike.

Lysečinská hora

When the weather is nice, Lysečinská hora offers beautiful views of the Broumovský výběžek with the Vraní hory, Góry Walbrzyšské, Bor, and Hejšovina mountains, and the distant ridge of the Orlické hory mountains.

Kraví hora

Just one kilometer from Horní Malá Úpa (U Kostela), you can enjoy a panoramic view of the region from the deforested peak of Kraví hora. The main hiking trails do not lead here, so you will have to follow the contour forest paths. That is why you can enjoy the true peace and quiet of the mountains here.

Pěnkavčí vrch

From Portášovy Budy, you can easily reach it by following the yellow trail through Růžohorky, and you can continue along the ridge to Sněžka. In the opposite direction, you will reach the confluence of the Úpa River. You will enjoy true romance when climbing the Pěnkavčí trail if you start from Spálený Mlýn. It is quite a climb, but it offers magnificent views of the Messnerov stream valley, Lví důl, and the meadow enclave of Šímova chalupa with its collection of protected folk architecture. On Pěnkavák, as the locals call it, you won't meet a soul for days thanks to its steep slopes and remote location. So, while looking for the marker post, you'll have plenty of time to check out the stone cairn that marks the top of the mountain.

Jelení hora

Jelení hora is the most difficult peak of the thousanders peaks of Malá Úpa to reach, but if you do decide to climb it, you can expect steep slopes.

Haida

You may be familiar with the cross-country ski trail of the same name, which runs around Vřesový vrch, from your winter vacation. There are no hiking trails here, so the best way to get here is from road II/252 from Žacléřské Budy. On the northern slope, look for the St. Vojtěch spring, where radioactive water flows. You will even find a radon bath below it.

Dlouhý hřeben

From Cestník, follow the sharp rocky path to the summit. After passing the secondary summit, turn left onto the grassy path. The previously deforested ridge is becoming overgrown, but you will still enjoy beautiful views of Malá Úpa and other thousanders peaks of Malá Úpa.
