Mountain Hotel Hořec and How It All Began...
This timeless building was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. While it may not be the oldest building in Malá Úpa, it certainly stands out for its uniqueness. From time immemorial, Hořec has welcomed tourists who stayed overnight and dined at the restaurant. It enjoyed great popularity and a high number of visitors. Over time, Hořec “moved with the times” and began to show signs of age – minor renovations, changes in ownership, etc. The building had been longing for a renovation – and not a small one. There were even speculations about demolition. Luckily, fate smiled upon Hořec – the building is now undergoing a gradual and complete reconstruction. The original plan was to restore the hotel and welcome guests again. But fate had other plans, and the final use is yet to be determined. Maybe it will be a surprise.
The Charm of Hořec
Not only a unique location but also an architectural gem. Architects from the renowned ADR studio have worked – and are still working – on preserving the original appearance while enhancing it with modern elements that respect the character of Malá Úpa. The less demolition, the better. The transformation of the building may not be obvious at first glance – until you step inside.
Service Center in Malá Úpa
On the ground floor of the building, you’ll find a ski equipment rental, ski service, depot, and facilities for the ski school. In summer, the rental transforms from a winter sports hub into a summer one – offering electric bikes for rent.
Don't miss the charming local café on the first floor, famous for its delicious pancakes. Unique alpine design, excellent coffee, sweet and savory treats. On the same floor, you’ll also find a gift shop offering souvenirs and local products – where better to get a piece of Malá Úpa than here? Last but not least, there’s a brand-new cinema hall. A unique multifunctional venue with high-quality sound and image projection on par with multiplex cinemas. You can look forward to movie nights for both kids and adults. We’re also preparing a program not only of film screenings, but also theater performances, lectures, conferences, and various children’s events. Centrum Hořec hides even more spaces – for now, they remain secret. Surprises are coming, and we just need a little more time.
