Mára Holeček will present his latest book "Touching Happiness", in which he shares experiences from his expeditions and deep reflections on life, goals, and moments of joy. Mára Holeček is one of the most successful Czech mountaineers of today. He was the first Czech in history to win the main award of the prestigious Piolet d'Or (Golden Ice Axe) for a first ascent in alpine style on the southwest face of the eleventh highest mountain in the world – Gasherbrum I. His name is associated with extreme mountaineering, bold first ascents, and an uncompromising approach to the mountains. Throughout his career, he has conquered countless peaks around the world and has often found himself in life-threatening situations. His storytelling style brings listeners directly into the action, offering not only adrenaline-filled tales but also deep thoughts on human perseverance, fear, and the joy of reaching goals.
