However, there is a trail that offers something much more valuable – an unforgettable experience of nature, peace, and breathtaking views. Start your hike in Malá Úpa, where you will find breathtaking views that no cable car can offer.

Cable car vs. hiking from Malá Úpa

The cable car is quick and easy, but the red trail from Malá Úpa reveals the true beauty of the Krkonoše Mountains. You’ll experience silence, nature, and unforgettable landscapes step by step.

From Malá Úpa to Sněžka:

The ridge trail marked in blue runs along the Czech-Polish border with views toward Karpacz. On this trail, you’ll summit Tabule (1,284 m) – one of the best viewpoints. The path continues gradually uphill via Jelenka and Svorová hora to the top of Sněžka. The full route is about 8 km.

  • Start: Malá Úpa (Pomezní Boudy, 1,050 m)
  • Destination: Sněžka (1,603 m)
  • Length: approx. 8 km
  • Elevation gain: approx. 550 m
  • Duration: 3–4 hours

From Pomezní Boudy, follow the red trail through forest paths to the Jelenka hut. Rest there, then tackle the steeper rocky section to the summit.

Return via Tabule: The best views in Krkonoše

Skip the same route back – return via the peaceful blue trail through Svorová hora and Tabule. This part offers some of the most breathtaking views in the entire region.
