Malá Úpa is a small mountain resort that attracts sports enthusiasts, and not just winter sports enthusiasts. Cross-country skiing is one of the few sporting activities available here. Cross-country skiing is not just about exercise, but also about immersing yourself in the beautiful views of Malá Úpa and enjoying the solitude and beauty of the Krkonoše National Park.

On a winter morning, when the sun is just rising above the horizon, the snow is crunching and freezing, you will feel as if you are exploring the world, and in some places, the world from a bird's eye view.

Cross-country skiing trails

There are several cross-country skiing trails in Malá Úpa. Malá Úpa is located on the Krkonoše Highway connecting the western and eastern parts of the Krkonoše Mountains. The entire route is 80 km long and starts in Harrachov. The cross-country trails are regularly groomed. The trails are suitable for both classic cross-country skiing and skating.

Kraví hora

From Pomezky, take the Krkonoše Highway towards the U Kostela ski slopes. A little below the lifts, you will then connect to the circuit around Kraví hora.

The circuit is less than 3 km through a pleasant forest. The route Pomezky - Kraví hora - Pomezky is 10 km long.

Pěnkavčí vrch

From Pomezky, take the Krkonoše Highway towards the U Kostela ski slopes. Below the church, you will join the trail to Spálené Mlýn to Janový boudy, from where it is only a short walk to Pěnkavčí vrch.

Haida

Around the Heather Hill, called Haida, a circuit with a length of about 6 km winds through the picturesque landscape. The circuit can be combined with another similarly short circuit that leads from Pomezní Budy to the church in Dolní Malá Úpa and back.

Krkonošská lyžařská magistrála

From Pomezní Boudy there is a cross-country skiing trail of the Krkonoše Mountains towards the U Kostela ski resort. The length of this regularly groomed route is 2.5 km.

Sněžka

From Malá Úpa it is also possible to go cross-country skiing to Sněžka. If the weather is good, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Giant Mountains.

Růžohorky – U Kostela

From Růžohorek through Janovy Boudy, Spálený mlýn to Malá Úpa to the church. This is a new route for cross-country skiing lovers. The route is less than 8 km long and has been approved for this season by the Krkonoše National Administration along with six other routes.
