Latest news and updates from Malá Úpa.
This small mountain resort, located below the highest mountain of the Czech Republic, Sněžka, will enchant you with its beautiful nature, picturesque character, traditional village architecture and ideal winter conditions.
Malá Úpa lies at an altitude of 1,050 metres above sea level, which makes it one of the highest ski resorts in the country. The slopes here may not be as long as in the Alps, but their charm, friendly atmosphere and views of Sněžka create an experience that will remind you of the best skiing in Austria – only without the crowds and with a homemade mulled wine in your hand.
Thanks to its altitude, you can expect excellent snow conditions throughout the winter season. And when it comes to downhill skiing, Malá Úpa is about much more than altitude. Perfectly groomed pistes are our speciality and, combined with modern snowmaking technology, snow groomers and professionally trained staff who do their utmost every day for perfect skiing, you can look forward to an ideal place for your ski adventures!
The atmosphere of a mountain village combined with high-quality services gives you the feeling of standing at the gateway to Alpine skiing, while still remaining in the heart of the Czech mountains. You can enjoy both one-day trips and longer ski holidays here.
In the resort you can ski on 13 slopes served by 9 lifts, all interconnected so that skiers don’t have to take off their skis or use ski buses.
Not only great value ski & service packages (the so-called Skimu Pack with discounts on skiing of up to 35%), but also fun for the whole family. Regardless of age or skill level, whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier, everyone in Malá Úpa has the chance to discover the beauty of winter sports, and skiing will become pure joy – not only for children.
In addition to skiing, you can look forward to sledging, snowball fights, building snowmen, cross-country trips and ice-skating on the highest outdoor ice rink in the Czech Republic. There are also cultural experiences such as theatre performances, movie nights and creative workshops – you will find all this in Malá Úpa. Thanks to this wide range of activities, winter in Malá Úpa will grow close to the hearts of children and adults alike.

For young skiers, Malá Úpa is the perfect place for their very first runs on skis. Children will love the kids’ park with a conveyor “magic carpet”, which is fully covered, meaning they can ski even in bad weather.
Experienced ski instructors will take care of your children so that they learn to ski safely and with joy, using proper teaching methods. You can already picture the smiles on your little skiers’ faces as they step onto their skis for the first time and set off on an adventure down the slope.
Malá Úpa – the place where a passion for skiing begins!
Malá Úpa offers much more than just winter fun. If you are a lover of culture, history, or culinary experiences, you will be delighted here.
Your journey of discovery can start at the Celnice Gallery on the border with Poland, continue at the museum in the Info Centre, where wreckage of an aircraft from 1945 is on display, and you should also stop at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul.
You definitely shouldn’t miss the building of the former Hořec Mountain Hotel – now the Hořec Centre. It is a completely renovated building that has retained its original appearance at first glance, but once you step inside you will be impressed by its contemporary design and practicality. The architects really had fun here – for example, on the stairs you can find out exactly how high above sea level you are standing.
Today, Hořec houses all the services a visitor to Malá Úpa might need – a ski equipment rental, the facilities of a ski school, a depot, a souvenir shop, a café with the best pancakes far and wide, and the recently opened doors of a multifunctional cinema hall. The cinema offers one of the highest-quality sound and projection systems for films and concerts. And that’s not all!
The cultural programme in Malá Úpa is rich and varied, so everyone will find something they enjoy: concerts, film screenings, children’s programmes, theatre performances, talks, exhibitions, a historical rohačky sled ride, a skiers’ race or the crazy Moopstock happening – the “Malá Úpa Woodstock”.
A fantastic winter holiday awaits you in Malá Úpa!
